Kat
Kat McCrory is a Richmond-based artist and Yoga instructor who's passionate about empowering people and creating community. Her work invites curiosity, play, and self-agency, through encouraging people to participate, take ownership, reconnect, and become active creators of their own lives. Her classes are often workshop style; involving fun flows with plenty of added spice, breath work, creativity, joy, and metaphors for thought. As Kat often says, “I am your GPS. You’re the driver.”
The TEACHERS: Kat & CID
CID
Cidney “Cid” Cher is an artist living and creating in Richmond, Virginia. She holds a BFA in Artist Books and Printmaking from Longwood University.
Her studio practice of marbling silk and textiles is rooted in the history of book arts, papermaking and fiber studies. A reverence for textiles comes from the hand of her grandmother - a farmer on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with a remarkable love for quilting and fabric. The focus of her current research is 2 fold; firstly, focusing on women in rotorcraft aviation. Secondly, inspired by the spiritual history of Persian marbling - honoring her Iranian roots.
Her work is included in the corporate collections of CoStar and Capital One Arts, and she has taught workshops all over at places like the Oak Spring Garden Foundation, Virginia Commonwealth University, and East Carolina University.

LAST HALF OF THE DAY WITH US
Spend mid-day exploring YOU in France. Enjoy one of our two outdoor swimming pools, venture out to the local market, curl up with a book, stroll through meadows and countryside, or get a massage. Slow down and enjoy everything this beautiful space has to offer.
We meet again in the late afternoon to get creative with Cid. For this collaborative retreat with TAOU, Cid will dive deeper into the historic French and European patterns of marbling, offering group and private sessions throughout the week.
Our marbling sessions will offer deliberate stillness and spontaneity of composition. Each guest will walk away with a wearable silk and have the option to marble on found objects.
Afternoon class will be followed by a communal dinner (inside or outside depending on weather). We will celebrate together each evening with a sustainable and locally sourced menu, optional wine and conversation.
