TAOU 2: A Becoming

Some spaces take shape quickly.

Others unfold

slowly,

layer by layer, until they become something more meaningful and take you places you never imagined or thought you needed.

The new studio — nearly a year in the making, began with a vision, a blueprint, eventually signing a lease in May 2025. It became a process of patience, creativity, and learning how to trust the unfolding, even when the path and timeline kept shifting. Our original plan to open was in the fall. Which shifted to winter. And now, spring (april).

And somehow that feels right. Spring feels like the season that understands growth and getting around what is in the way the most..

Now, we have reached a stopping point in the journey and roadtrip where they are ready to welcome you/ US in.

The soft opening has begun with some fun pop ups leading up to April 6, with a week of free classes — an invitation and a thank you to the community. “A taste of the cake”

The grand opening is April 11, and by Monday, April 13, the full(ish) class

schedule will be in motion.

I call it starting with diet coke then transitioning to coke then in time adding flavours, like cherry and vanilla over time. Really getting to try things and play with what we have and our potential”

Instead of feeling designed from the top down, the studio feels assembled piece by piece by the very community that will soak it up + enjoy it.

It feels more like a piece of art that keeps expanding, much like US(our bodies).

It truly is the “the art of us,” because that’s exactly what it is. The mosaic mural was built piece by piece, by many hands. Friends showed up. Students showed up. People offered time, strength, ideas, patience. Nothing about it feels overly polished or overly perfect, and that’s what makes it beautiful. It feels alive and real.

And maybe that’s the point. Not to create something finished, but something that continues to evolve. Every person who walks through the door will shape it. Every class will leave something behind. Every conversation, every moment, every breath in the space becomes part of it.

The timeline didn’t go the way we expected. But the space became something better because of that. It became more thoughtful. More layered. More human. Not rushed. Not forced. Just ready when it was ready.

Now April feels less like a delayed opening and more like the right time finally arriving. The right season. The right place. And when the doors open, it won’t just be a new studio opening. It will feel more like the next chapter of something that has already been quietly growing for a long time.

Something built by us — and something that will continue to evolve and be shaped by us and everyone who walks in.
